My name is Natalie Robbins, and I am a part of NAMI Cook County North Suburban, the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, located in Skokie. We are a nonprofit that raises awareness and provides education, advocacy and support group programs at no cost for people in our community living with mental illness and their loved ones. Without NAMI CCNS, more people with mental illness would experience discrimination, end up living on the streets, in prison or in other institutions, and %u2013 at worst %u2013 dying by suicide.
Our annual fundraiser is a 5k walk and run! This year%u2019s walk/run is on Sunday, September 23rd, 2018 at Clark Street Beach in Evanston. It is very accessible to public transportation and there will be plenty of parking. The route follows the lake up and through Northwestern%u2019s campus. We would love for you and your running community to be a part of it! All ages and all levels of walking or running experience are welcome!
We depend on the funds we raise through the walk to support our programs. Participation in our event is crucial for our nonprofit.
I am reaching out to you in hopes that you will help NAMI CCNS by promoting our 5K Walk and 5K Run through your organization since your members and their connections might be interested in this opportunity. It is a wonderful way to get moving as well as give back to the community and a group of people who need your help at the same time.
There are several ways for your organization to get involved. Whether you would like organize a WALK team, set up a table at our walk, or promote the event on your website/social media and to your members, we would appreciate any and all support.

I also have a flyer for a new program, called NAMIMoves, which uses running and walking as a tool to support individuals with a mental health diagnosis. Groups meet weekly at 6pm on Wednesdays at Independence Grove in Libertyville. We would greatly appreciate you letting your members know about this program.
